A Brazilian man who accidentally shot himself in the head with a spear gun has vowed never go underwater fishing again.
Emerson de Oliveira Abreu may well be the luckiest ex-spearfisherman alive after he survived a 15cm spear being shot into his head..
Mr Abreu was diving off the coast of Rio de Janeiro when he fired the spear, which ricocheted off rocks and penetrated his own head so deeply that only the tip was showing.

Yet after five-hours of high risk surgery, doctors said he was not likely to suffer major or lasting damage.
Reflecting on the ordeal, Mr Abreu said he would "never more'' get back into the water to fish with spears.
Mr Abreu is in a stable condition in hospital and is expected to be released in 10 days.
He told Globo TV he felt "a sharp pain'' when the spear hit him, and was in agony when the ambulance hit bumps in the road on the way to hospital.
