DRAGONS BLOG: Last season's best biffs

I make no bones about it - I like the odd dust-up mixed in with my footy.

So I like this three and a half minute video of some of the punch-ups from last season.

Pity about the soundtrack - Reg Reagan’s Am I Ever Gonna See the Biff Again?. Hate that Matty Johns character and the way he backed down and said the whole ‘‘bring back the biff’’ thing was a joke after he started copping some criticism from the politically correct set.

So maybe watch this one with the sound turned down.

Pronouncing footy players names has always been a problem for commentators, especially with the increasing numbers of Kiwis and Polynesian players coming into the comp. With this in mind, the Rabbitohs released this very helpful pronunciation guide.

The ladies especially, will surely love listening to the soft, whispery tones of Joe Galuvao explaining how to pronounce his name.

When he’s not acting or running the South Sydney Rabbitohs Russell Crowe likes to dabble in music. Which is rather unfortunate, as he’s not that great at it - either writing songs or singing them.

But this video doesn’t feature his music - rather it’s a Canadian band called Gaelic Storm singing about the time the lead singer punched Mr Crowe in the head. As a bonus it’s a video in Lego - and everybody likes Lego videos.

I reckon people would pay to hear me sing - if I was a famous movie star.

Seems to have worked for old Rusty.

He's actually quite talented. It's just another side of an already complex person. It's easy to take a potshot at someone without having done any research. I'll respect you more if you listen and don't like it than don't listen and don't like it. If you've already listened and don't like it, and it's not your cuppa, I'll respect that as well. But, give Russell and fans some credit. It's not all about the 'movie stah'. He might be a feast for the eyes, but he (and his band) are definitely a feast for the ears.

I did listen - bought one of his albums to do so in fact.

And I hated it.

OK so play the video but your stupid comments about Crowe's music are pointless. He is not the greatest singing voice but an excellant songwriter otherwise the like of Chrissie hinds and Billy Bragg and Sting wouldn't have liked his songs. Also the renowned canadian band Grweat Big Sea wouldn't be happy yo work with him. Also why pick him out, you are also insulting the rest of the guys in the group. PRAT.

Just because my opinion differs from yours is hardly justification for claiming my comments are pointless.

If those people are allowed to like his music, then why aren't I allowed to dislike it?

Russell is a good singer with lovely songs .Just listen without any a priori. He doesn't pretend to be the best one, just likes it and lives it.That' the most important and we don't mind those who dislike it .A lot of singers are worse and you are one of them.

Having never heard me sing, how can you say I'm worse than him?

When you can write something as beautiful as "I tilt my hat to the breeze of the evening", I'll consider your critique, but until then, just keep blogging until someone notices you. Empty criticism does not a writer make. I loved the Gaelic Storm parody. Now THAT is talent.

Mr Humphries has better taste in music than in football teams that's for sure!. Agreed, though, the guy cant sing LIVE for peanuts.

It looks like Russell's mum, dad, grandmother, wife and best friend have all turned out on the try hard blog today.

They do seem to be quite defensive about criticism of Rusty's singing ....
