You know, I don't care about the minor premiership.
Yep, I'm aware some may think I'm only bringing this up now because the Dogs are level with us on points and there's a chance we mightn't finish on top.
They may think I'm trying to soften the potential blow of not winning the minor premiership by suddenly claiming not to care about it.

SLIDESHOW: Darius Boyd named Goose of the Week at trainingList en to Graham Wilson's new Dragons songWell, they'd be wrong. And it's not "sudden" either - I've never cared about it. Sure, it'd be nice if the Dragons won the thing but I won't shed a tear if we don't.
Because, in the bigger scheme of things, the minor premiership just doesn't matter to anyone other than the team who wins it. Which is something some footy pundits just don't seem to understand.
They'll always bleat about how the minor premiership deserves more importance than it gets. No, it doesn't - it's called the minor premiership after all. Why should anyone care about something whose very name tells you there is something more important, interesting and major down the line?
Every single footy fan knows it's the grand final that matters. That's the prize we all want our team to win (especially those of us whose team hasn't won one for 30 years). And, even if our team doesn't make it, we remember those who do.
Who the hell bothers to remember who won the minor premiership?
While I know Manly won last year's grand final, I don't have a clue who ended up minor premiers (I just looked it up - it was Melbourne on for-and-against ahead of Manly and the Sharks. Which means Cronulla are on track to go from equal first to equal last in just a year).
But I'll bet not one single Manly fan has said "sure, winning the grand final was awesome but being minor premiers would have been better".
That's because it doesn't really matter.
