2 Australian soldiers die in Afghanistan

Two Australian soldiers have been killed in southern Afghanistan, in a fresh wave of Taliban attacks.

The Diggers are the first Australians to die in 11 months, bringing the total number of campaign deaths to 13.

The Defence Department said that "an incident has occurred involving the Mentoring Task Force" and that the "next of kin of members involved have been advised".

... don't forget animals in war. One of the soldier's dog Nelson died with him. Nelson was a kelpie cross who was trained to detect explosives.

As parents of a solider in our defence forces our prayers and best wishes go to the families and to the friwends and fellow soliders who served withthese three brave soliders including Nelson the dog. He to was playing an impotant part in this operation. We must remeber the troops who are still there as well. Jeanette and Jeff
