Kiama Municipal Council has launched an appeal to raise money for the family of Jason Stortz, who was killed in a cycling accident at the weekend.
The 39-year-old was training for the Port Macquarie Half Iron Man competition when the accident occurred on Marshall Mt Rd at Yallah on Saturday.
A 17-year-old Dapto man has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death and failing to stop and assist after a crash causing death following the crash.

"He was a well-liked and highly respected member of staff," a council spokesperson said.
Mr Stortz is survived by his wife Kylie and one-year-old son Harry.
Donations can be made at the council's administration centre on Manning St at Kiama, or credit card donations of $20 or more can be made by calling the council on 4232 0444.
Members of the Kiama Triathlon Club, of which Mr Stortz was a member, will also collect donations for the Stortz family during a commemorative bicycle ride on Saturday.
The club will be erect a cross and plaque on Marshall Mt Rd at 9am on Saturday to commemorate Jason's life.
