Bounce into Viva La Gong festival

11 Oct, 2008 04:00 AM
Two internationally famous kangaroos starred at the Viva La Gong arts and community festival in Wollongong yesterday, and they will bounce back into town today.

The giant kangaroos gained notoriety when they jumped into the Glastonbury Festival mosh pit in England in 2002 and were later voted second best act - after Coldplay - in a poll by BBC Radio 2.

Bruno and Ted have since performed in 25 countries and leapt into Wollongong yesterday.

Icarus Performance Troupe's Paul Jones is the face behind Ted and said the 2m-tall macho roos could jump 1m into the air and had naughty personalities.

"The males have got quite large testicles and if you squeeze them they squeak," Mr Jones said.

The roos will appear today with other street performers in Crown St Mall and MacCabe Park.
