Britney Spears fans queue for Circus tickets

03 Jul, 2009 12:54 PM
A small group of Illawarra Britney Spears fans braved last night's icy conditions in a bid to snare tickets to the pop star's upcoming Australian shows.

Tickets went on sale at 9am today, and counting down the clock outside the WIN Entertainment Centre's Ticketek office were about 50 die-hard fans hoping to secure their place in the concert's front row.

Leading the charge were two enthusiasts who had arrived at 9pm last night, before more started trickling into the line from 4am.

"They said it was very cold last night," Ticketek customer service officer Brenda Byrnes said after the rush had passed.

"There were probably about 50 people by the time we opened.

"We have got some tickets left, although a couple of the shows were sold out."

The Circus Starring Britney Spears will hit Australian shores in November, including concerts at Sydney's Acer Arena.

The show has won praise for its sheer size and spectacle.

It boasts nearly 50 dancers, magicians, clowns and acrobats, and will travel Australia with 60 tonnes of equipment in 34 trucks.

My granddaughter and her friend were there from 6am in the freezing cold. They were 7th in line and were at the counter by 9.05am but still missed out on getting tickets for the show they wanted to see. They had to settle for another date but at least they did get tickets. At home as backup were family members sitting waiting to purchase tickets at 9am when the site opened - within 30 seconds there were no tickets left for the preferred date. Still there are two happy girls in Wollongong!

You would have to pay ME to go and see her. Even then I wouldn't go!
