Wollongong police uncovered a $30,000 stash of allegedly stolen tools at a Woonona home yesterday.
Officers executed a search warrant on the Monie St house about 4pm after attending a break and enter at Corrimal earlier in the day.
Inspector Paul Allman said a car was stolen from the Corrimal residence and later allegedly found by police at the Woonona address.
The stolen vehicle had contained a large quantity of work tools which were found at the Woonona home, police allege.
Insp Allman said other stolen tools were also found at the premises.
He estimated the tools to be worth upwards of $30,000, with one tool alone costing about $20,000.
A 35-year-old Woonona man was taken to Wollongong police station where he was charged with having goods in custody, stealing a motor vehicle, larceny and trespass.
He was refused police bail and is expected to appear in Wollongong Local Court later today.
Inspector Bryan Rugg said investigations into the break in were continuing.
"We’re appealing to anyone who might have been near the house in Corrimal, which is close to the intersection of Princes Highway and Albert Street, who might have seen any suspicious activity near the house yesterday to contact Wollongong Police via CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000," Inspector Rugg said.
