Car crashes into power pole at Lake Heights

22 Oct, 2009 09:51 AM
Three people were lucky to escape with only minor injuries after a car flipped and crashed into a power pole in Lake Heights late last night.

The Holden Commodore landed on its roof after smashing into the power pole on Flagstaff Rd about 11.25pm.

A witness said the sound of the impact could be heard streets away from the crash scene.

The power pole was knocked from the ground and electricity to the residential area was cut off for more than an hour, the witness said.

A NSW Ambulance spokesperson said three people in the vehicle suffered minor injuries and were taken to Wollongong Hospital.

I live right near where the crash occurred. I heard the car come speeding down the hill, then lose control and uproot the power pole! I do not know how no one died last night.

I knew the people that were in the car, they are all very dear friends of mine, and yes it is a wonder how no one died and came out with only minor injuries. Also while alot of people criticise and blame the individuals, their friends and family are relieved that they all survived the ordeal. Yes its easy to point and blame someone, but how would you feel and react if it was a loved one involved? You would wonder why it happened, but then the relief that they survived would superseeed that feeling.
