Child porn images seized in Gong yet to be classified

Investigators face the mammoth task of classifying almost 138,000 computer-based images after what is believed to be the biggest seizure of child pornography in the Illawarra.Wollongong Local Court was told yesterday that less than one-third of the illicit haul had been classified so far using an internationally recognised system that scaled images of children from mild to hardcore.The court heard that 1600 videos seized in the same raid had also yet to be assessed and scaled.John Douglas Street, 42, of Rann St, Fairy Meadow, has pleaded guilty to four counts of producing, disseminating or possessing child pornography on February 12, two counts of using the internet to make child pornography available and one count each of transmitting child pornography and accessing child pornography.Police seized a total of 137,908 images from computer hard drives.Street has been in custody since February and appeared via video link yesterday. Magistrate Michael Stoddart adjourned the matter to Wollongong Court on July 15.
