A generous donation from the owners of a Wollongong nightclub has helped the inaugural Christmas in July Santa Claus Pub Crawl raise $7000 for the city's wheelchair basketball team.
Platform 3 owners Rebecca and Jim Stefan handed over $4500 - the club's cover charge takings for Saturday evening - to assist the Wollongong Roller Hawks meet ongoing team costs this basketball season.
More than 400 people began the two-pub night at the North Gong Hotel with a sausage sizzle and drinks before heading on to Platform 3 to boogie the night away.
Organiser Neil Webster, who is behind the popular Christmas Santa Pub Crawl, labelled the night "a great success" and gave special thanks to the Stefans for their generosity.

While the number of pub crawlers was lower than anticipated, Mr Webster said the amount of money raised was higher than he had been expecting.
