A community's grief spilled over onto a Unanderra footpath yesterday as friends of car crash victim Roach Bannerman wrote tributes at the site of their mate's death.
Roach was one of three who died in a fiery crash on the Princes Hwy on Friday night.
Oak Flats resident Adam Craig Nall and Farmborough Heights' Aaron Sinadinovic also perished in the blaze.Daniel Schroeder from Horsley remains in hospital with third degree burns.
Throughout the day flowers from friends and well-wishers were left at a makeshift roadside memorial on a fence erected to cordon off a power pole blackened by Friday's fire.
"We watch as our loved ones suffer and as our close friends cry," said one crumpled note attached to the fence.
Team-mates from Roach's rugby union club painted the footpath red in an act of loving graffiti.
"Luv you like a brother - Wombats 4 life," read one message.
Others joined tributes on Roach's MySpace website.
"I can't believe ur gone it feels like a dream, I just want to wake up n it all be over," one well-wisher said.
Dozens of tributes were posted on the Illawarra Mercury's website, one of which read: "in our preyers 4 eva, R.I.P Roach"
