Corrimal woman to follow Alice Cooper around Australia

18 Aug, 2009 05:00 AM
Alice Cooper devotee Brownyn Cox has taken two weeks off work so she can follow the Prince of Darkness around the country.

Cooper kicks off his Australian Theatre of Death tour at WIN Entertainment Centre tonight and Ms Cox, from East Corrimal, will be dancing from the front row, centre stage.

The 32-year-old arts administrator will then follow her idol to Newcastle, Sydney and Melbourne. Last year she flew to New Zealand to catch her 13th Cooper gig.

Ms Cox's passion for the American rocker, who she has met four times, began 17 years ago when she first heard his 1989 album, Trash. Since then she has accumulated box loads of Cooper memorabilia that includes vinyl records, CDs, DVDs, books, dolls, posters, press clippings, key-rings and pillow cases.

"(Cooper) is just so entertaining. He doesn't take himself too seriously, which would drive me nuts, even the serious things have a tongue-in-cheek element," Ms Cox said.

"He is really good at balancing horror with comedy and he is such a great performer and entertainer."

Cooper, who also moonlights as a serious golfer, was due to arrive in the Illawarra last night and was expected to play a round at Wollongong Golf Club this morning.

Yep, can't wait for tonight. Shame about having to go to work today though... hope I don't get sleepy half way through! Past my bedtime!
