NSW Governor Marie Bashir will make a special presentation to Dapto High School this weekend as part of the school's 50th anniversary celebrations. The festivities kicked off last night with a fund-raising race meeting at another Dapto institution - the Dapto dogs.Professor Bashir will present a Wollemi pine to the school at a dinner tomorrow night at the Dapto Leagues Club.More than 500 past and present members of the school community, some of whom have flown from London and the United States, will join several members of the school's Hall of Fame, including rugby league identity John Simon, at the dinner.Dapto High School principal Andrew FitzSimons said the celebrations were a great time to take stock of the school's achievements and to plan for the future."We have been blessed with incredibly hard-working teachers and a supportive community," he said."The anniversary celebrations provide an opportunity to reminisce and catch up with old friends."On Sunday, the school will host a family picnic day on the school grounds, starting at 10am. There will be a range of food stalls and rides for kids and the library and school grounds will be open for tours. The new memorial garden will also be dedicated by school chaplain Karina Turk.
