Dog survives being flushed down toilet

A puppy in Britain is yappy to be alive after getting flushed away by a four-year old boy.

The week-old cocker spaniel was trapped in a waste pipe for almost four hours after little Daniel Blair decided he needed a wash.

But Daniel's plan went awry when the tiny pup was flushed away and became stuck in a waste pipe for nearly four hours.

Firefighters and animal welfare officers could not reach it, so Daniel's mother eventually called a plumber, who found the dog lying upside down in a pipe about 20 metres away from their house in Northolt, west London.

Dyno-Rod plumber Will Craig was eventually called in, admitting he thought it was a wind-up at first.

But after arriving at the scene he used camera gear to find the dog and gently nudge him towards a manhole cover and safety.

Mr Craig told Britain's Daily Mirror: "At first I didn't want to do it because I was scared of hurting the dog. But the RSPCA said I was his only hope. Eventually I pushed him far enough for the firemen to grab."

Cheering broke out after the rescue was completed, he added.

The dog - which has been named Dyno after the plumbing firm which rescued it - is now safe and well and back with the family.

Distraught Daniel said he was "so, so sorry" about flushing Dyno down the toilet, vowing: " I won't do it again".

When a week old puppy is away from the bodily warmth of its dam for more than 30 minutes, it begins to shut down and begin the process of dying.

Couple this with the fact that the pup in the case was submerged in sewage water, and may have injested some in its lungs for up to 3 hours or more, it is without saying that this puppy is most certainly NOT out of the woods at all.

Puppies cannot sustain body temp at this age and need to be at least 100 degrees to maintain proper organ and brain function.

I hope it all works out but would expect some serious issues in the coming days or weeks that may lead to its death I am sorry to say.
