Eric Roozendaal new Minister for the Illawarra

03 Sep, 2010 04:19 PM
State Treasurer Eric Roozendaal will be the new Minister for the Illawarra following Paul McLeay’s shock resignation on Wednesday.

Premier Kristina Keneally said Mr Roozendaal will also take over Mr McLeay's former portfolio of Ports and Waterways. He previously held the portfolio in 2005 and has also held the Roads and Commerce portfolios.

Under a minor ministerial reshuffle, Shellharbour MP Lylea McMahon will become Parliamentary Secretary Assisting the Minister for Energy and Parliamentary Secretary Assisting the Minister for the Illawarra.

Primary Industries, Emergency Services and Rural Affairs Minister Steve Whan will take over responsibility for the Mineral and Forest Resources portfolios, also previously held by Mr McLeay.

Mr Roozendaal is an upper house MP from Sydney's eastern suburbs.

  • VOTE: Would you prefer an Illawarra MP to be Minister for the Illawarra?

He will be the fourth Minister for the Illawarra following Keira MP David Campbell, Kiama MP Matt Brown and Heathcote MP Mr McLeay.

Don't worry we won't see much of him in the Illawarra. He will be spending most of his time on taxpayer funded (nearly $100,000) junkets to New York, Washington and Los Angeles.

    1) speed the trains up so they are faster than the jurassic era. 2) Complete the F6 to the Sydney CBD so the Illawarra actually has a proper freeway system like the Southern Tablelands and Central Coast. 3) In the interim, get rid of that stupid 50km/h limit at Heathcote. 4) Give us a local election so we can hold our councillors to account. 5) Watch pigs fly.
