Farmer Wants a Wife contestant to marry Gong girl

18 Jan, 2010 06:19 PM
A Jamberoo dairy farmer who found love on a reality TV show - then lost it when the cameras stopped rolling - will have his happy ending at last.

Ben Honey will wed Wollongong woman Kate Morgan on an undisclosed date after popping the question the weekend before last.

Mr Honey declined to provide details about the upcoming nuptials, indicating a "been there, done that" attitude to the publicity and his preference for a more private romance this time around.

Public glare played a part in his November 2008 split with Sydney nanny Sarah Walton, 28, who he met on season two of the Nine Network series Farmer Wants a Wife.

Ms Walton moved to the Honey farm in September 2008, but struggled to settle in and find work, partly due to a tell-all magazine deal that required her presence in Jamberoo to be kept secret.

Ms Walton later returned to Sydney, but showed the experience hadn't totally turned her off public life when she posed in lingerie for a March edition of men's magazine Zoo Weekly.

In the accompanying interview she told how Mr Honey's demanding work schedule had contributed to her dissatisfaction with country living.

"Country boys are big and strong and know how to handle a woman," she reportedly told the magazine.

"(But) he was always tired. He was up at 4am and got home late.

"Let's just say that a roll in the hay isn't all it's cracked up to be."
