A 32-year-old Oak Flats woman who allegedly punched a police officer in the face while being fingerprinted will face court next month.
The woman was one of two Illawarra motorists who have had their licence suspended in the past 24 hours for allegedly driving with more than four times the legal limit of alcohol in their system.
At 2.53am police were called to Cygnet Ave at Blackbutt after receiving calls about a grey sedan that had stopped in the middle of the road, with the female driver allegedly yelling out to someone.
When police arrived, they spoke with the woman before giving her a roadside breath test, which returned a positive reading.
Lake Illawarra police Sergeant John Klepczarek said after the test she allegedly became violent and lashed out at police with her legs and fists.
She was restrained before being handcuffed and taken to Port Kembla Police Station where a breath analysis returned a reading of 0.205.
Sgt Klepczarek said it was also alleged that while being fingerprinted, the woman punched an officer in the face.
She had her licence suspended before being charged with high range PCA, resisting arrest and two counts of assaulting police.
She was bailed to appear in Port Kembla Local Court on February 11.
At 12.30pm yesterday a 57-year-old Windang man was driving along Military Rd, Port Kembla, when he was stopped for a mobile breath test.
A breath analysis later returned a reading of 0.200 and he had his licence suspended before being charged with high range PCA.
He is scheduled to face Port Kembla Local Court on February 25.
