Rivers across the South Coast could burst their banks by the end of the week, authorities have warned.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a flood watch for much of the coast, with a greater than 70 per cent chance of local flash flooding as well as minor to moderate river flooding in the Moruya, Tuross and Bega Rivers from Friday.State Emergency Service members from Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama, Nowra, Ulladulla and Batemans Bay are heading south in preparation for the forecast deluge.
Incident Management personnel, storm damage crews, flood rescue operators and flood rescue boats are being deployed in anticipation of access routes being cut by rising waters.
Two SES helicopters and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter are also on standby to assist with rescues if needed.
