Four men charged with mall brawl

11 Mar, 2010 08:11 AM
Four men have been charged following an alleged brawl in the Crown St Mall overnight.

About 12.40am on Thursday, four Fairy Meadow men were walking through the mall when they became involved in a verbal argument with four men from the Shoalhaven region.

Police will allege a 17-year-old from Nowra approached one of the men in the Fairy Meadow group and punched him in the head.

The four Shoalhaven men then allegedly punched and kicked the Fairy Meadow men.

One of the men from Fairy Meadow was allegedly kicked in the head while lying on the ground.

Police said the whole incident was captured on the mall's network of closed circuit television cameras and mall security staff contacted police who were on the scene a short time later.

A 17-year-old Nowra boy, an 18-year-old Falls Creek man, an 18-year-old Milton man and an 18-year-old Sanctuary Point man were all taken to Wollongong police station where they were charged with affray.

They are due to appear in Wollongong Local Court on April 27.
