Diane Felkin was sentenced last month to a minimum 2 years’ jail for the fraud, which she claimed was committed to feed her son’s crippling gambling addiction.

Yesterday, Judge Paul Conlon formally directed the 61-year-old pay $750,000 compensation to her former employers - the maximum amount available under the court’s jurisdiction.

Making the order, Judge Conlon noted Felkin still owed the one-time owners of Batemans Bay Motors around $915,000, despite already repaying them $200,000.

He told the court the victims had brought an application for compensation and Felkin was not in a position to argue with the order.

Felkin spent nearly seven years conning the motor dealership, using her unrestricted access to her employer’s funds to pilfer money and transfer it into her bank accounts.

Concealing the fraudulent transactions with references to non-existent staff pay-outs, vehicles and purported tax transfers, Felkin stole $1,150,862.18 before the dodgy deals were revealed in 2008.

She was sentenced to an overall 5 years’ jail after pleading guilty to 18 counts of obtaining money by deception.

A further 86 charges were taken into consideration in sentencing.
