A former Wollongong councillor has pleaded not guilty to allegations that he provided false or misleading information during an investigation into corruption at Wollongong City Council.
Frank Gigliotti did not appear in person at Downing Centre Local Court in Sydney today to face charges being pursued by the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC).
His lawyer entered not guilty pleas on his behalf to charges of furnishing false or misleading information contrary to the ICAC Act; giving false or misleading evidence at a public inquiry; making a false statement to an ICAC officer; and intentionally making a false statement in a statutory declaration.
Two other former Labor councillors, Kiril Jonovski and Zeki Esen, also were not present in court when their cases were mentioned today. Their lawyers did not enter pleas on their behalf.
Mr Jonovski is being prosecuted for two offences under the ICAC Act - allegedly furnishing false or misleading information and giving false or misleading evidence at a public inquiry.
Mr Esen is facing one count of allegedly furnishing false or misleading information and two counts of giving misleading evidence at the inquiry.
All charges stem from Commissioner Jerrold Cripps' recommendations last October that 11 people be prosecuted.
The corruption watchdog is also awaiting advice from the DPP on whether to prosecute the other eight individuals that Commissioner Cripps recommended be considered for criminal charges.
The cases were adjourned until December 22.
