Macquarie Pass re-opened after truck crash

18 May, 2009 02:42 PM
Macquarie Pass has been re-opened after a truck's trailer overturned and crashed off the side of the road.

The 23-year-old truck driver was not injured in the crash, which occurred just after 8.30am.

Police said the truck was towing a trailer laden with 20 tonnes of cattle feed at the time, which spilled across the side of the road.

The truck was about 1km from the base of Macquarie Pass and was heading west when the accident occurred on a left-hand bend.

The truck remained upright while the trailer tipped over.

The road was closed for several hours this morning while the wreckage was removed.

Someone needs to stop trucks using the pass as a short cut. At the same time speed humps need to be installed to slow the bikes down

Would that be a shortcut to the primary producers on the Southern Highlands, snaws? Just how many kilometres of speed bumps do you suggest? Typical over reaction. What we need is higher Police visibility on all high risk roads.

What a joke! And a bigger one: Those motor cyclists who,on their overpowered bikes use the Pass, especially over week-ends What a joke.B-Doubles on the Pass. Yet the biggest joke are motor bike riders who, with utter disregard for others use the Pass as a racetrack. An inability to complete on a real racetrack causes these 'heroes' to show their 'Big Machines'. The toll shows why the racetrack is above their ability.
