Man charged over Austinmer, Woonona robberies

Wollongong police have charged a man over two break and enters at homes in Austinmer and Woonona yesterday.

Inspector Mark Lavers said houses in Hill St, Austinmer and York Rd, Woonona, were broken into about noon.

A member of the public spotted a man loading plasma televisions, digital still and video cameras, electronic games systems and computer monitors into a black Nissan Skyline at Russell Vale and alerted police.

Officers arrived on scene a short time later and intercepted the allegedly stolen Skyline.

A 34-year-old Figtree man was arrested and taken to Wollongong Police Station for questioning.

He was charged with two counts of aggravated break, enter and steal and committing a serious indictable offence.

Investigations are continuing and anyone with information is urged to contact Wollongong Police Station via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
