A Sydney man, who secretly filmed a 12-year-old boy showering, pleaded guilty to child porn charges in Wollongong Local Court yesterday.
The man faced six counts of using a child for pornographic purposes after he was caught secretly videoing the boy while he undressed and showered on several occasions between June 2009 and March.
He was also charged with two counts of assault with an act of indecency, relating to footage found on his Sony recorder depicting sexual acts with two unconscious males.
Yesterday the man appeared via video link before Magistrate Doug Dick and pleaded guilty to all charges.
The court heard the man was a long-time friend of the victim's mother and had recently resumed contact with her on a social networking site.
Soon the man was visiting the woman's home and taking the family out on day trips.
He would often stay at the family home overnight, the court heard.
On those occasions he would leave a large travel bag in the bathroom, positioned in front of the shower with a hand-held video recorder hidden inside.
After several months the boy became suspicious and opened the bag, only to discover the camera was on and had just recorded him in the shower.
Police were alerted and the man was arrested.
A search of the man's Sydney home found a video recorder hidden in a bag fitting the description given by the victim and several mini cassettes from the recorder.
The court heard footage found on the cassettes captured images of him as he undressed, washed and redressed.
Police also found footage of the man indecently assaulting two young men who had stayed at his unit after a night of heavy drinking.
Mr Dick ordered the man to be sentenced in Wollongong District Court on September 24.
