David Simpson leaves Wollongong Local Court after pleading guilty to a charge of aggravated indecency on a girl aged under 16.

A Stanwell Park man took advantage of his wife's Sunday church commitments to show a pornographic movie to a young child staying overnight at their home, a court was told.David Simpson, 70, pleaded guilty in Wollongong Local Court yesterday to aggravated indecency on a child under 16 years of age.He entered not guilty pleas to a further five child sex charges, including another aggravated indecency charge and two counts of sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 10.All the offences are alleged to have happened between 1996 and 1998 when the victim's family were friends with the Simpsons and the girl visited their home, including overnight stays on some occasions. The court heard Mrs Simpson's devotion to her religion meant she attended church every Sunday morning, leaving her husband at home, along with the girl when she visited.Yesterday, Simpson admitted to the court that during his wife's absence on a Sunday morning in 1996, he put on a video containing pornographic material when the young girl was in the room.He also admitted to touching himself in her presence before she said "I don't like that" and walked away. However, Simpson denied the further charges, arising from claims by the victim that on different occasions during 1997 he grabbed the girl's hand and rubbed it over his genitals, exposed himself to her and performed sex acts on the child. He also denied asking her to dress in his wife's stockings and wear her lipstick.Simpson was committed to stand trial in Wollongong District Court on the five charges he will defend, and ordered to the same court for sentencing on his guilty plea. His case has been adjourned to December 14.
