For Worrigee resident Natalie Talbot, the birth of her first child has sparked a new calling - an international bike ride to help others.
"We're so lucky to be able to give our daughter so much and we want other children to be as lucky," she said.
Over nine days, Natalie and 20 others will cycle through Laos and Cambodia as part of ChildFund Australia's Laos Water Cycle Challenge.
The trip aims to raise funds for toilets and safe drinking water to help children in some of the region's poorest communities.
At a distance of 464km, much the same distance as from Wagga Wagga to Sydney, the trip would be a challenge for even a seasoned professional, but Natalie is not fazed by the demanding journey.
"I've cycled as a kid and I used to ride to uni so it's not as though I haven't done it before," she said.
"But I'm not a cyclist by any means. So there will be a lot of training."
As well as preparing her body, Natalie will need to raise more than $8000 to fund her trip and the community's facilities.
But the most rewarding part is saved for last, when she will spend two days meeting the community she has travelled so far to help.
"We're so lucky in Australia," she said.
"We have so many things that other countries don't have access to.
"I am just hoping that people here will want to give, so that other people can be as lucky."
