After splitting in 1994, New Kids on the Block announced their reunion last year and soon after planned The Full Service tour of the United States, Canada and now Australia.

The five original members Donnie Wahlberg, Joey McIntyre, Jordan Knight, Danny Wood and Jonathan Knight will play the WIN Entertainment Centre on August 15, with tickets going on sale on May 28.

The boys came to prominence in the late 1980s with their unique brand of bubblegum pop, which combined good looks, singing and dance routines and sparked a rush of copycat white boy bands.

They sold 80 million albums internationally with popular songs such as You Got It (The Right Stuff) and Step by Step.

McIntyre denied the reunion was a chance to cash in on Generation X-ers nostalgia for the period and had some unusual encouragement for their fans to see them live.

"The new music we're making reignited this whole thing,'' he said.

"We're still young, we're still hot. Our fans are between 25 and 35 because they were really young then.

"They're still very attractive - and very legal. So it's going to be a girl's night out.

"I know my wife's going to be there every step of the way, but it's still going to be fun.''
