Police have arrested a man following the discovery of a woman’s body in Oak Flats this morning.
About 8am, a member of the public contacted police in relation to suspicious activity at a bush reserve on Old Lake Entrance Rd at Oak Flats.
Police from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command went to the scene and found the body of a woman.
They arrested a 26-year-old man at the scene. He is assisting with inquiries at Port Kembla police station.
Forensic specialists are examining the crime scene and are in the process of formally identifying the woman.
The cause of death is not yet known.
