Police divers prepare to salvage sunken yacht

17 Oct, 2009 04:00 AM
Sydney police divers spent about half an hour diving near Flinders Islet yesterday.

They didn't, however, retrieve anything from the site where Shockwave V crashed into rocks off the island a week ago.

Sixteen crew members had to be rescued after the collision, while the yacht's skipper, Andrew Short, and navigator, Sally Gordon, were killed in the accident.

Police divers were believed to be observing the site to prepare for a salvage operation, which has so far been delayed due to difficult conditions.
