Police investigate Helensburgh fatality

A 29-year-old Wollongong man has died after he was hit by a car near Helensburgh this morning.The accident took place on the F6, 1km north of the Old Princes Hwy interchange, at about 1am.Wollongong police duty officer Inspector Graeme Donnelly said the man was struck by a northbound car driven by a 53-year-old Warilla man.Ambulance paramedics were called to the scene but upon arrival found the man was deceased.Police will today interview witnesses and the Southern Region Crash Investigation Unit will continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.Anyone with information is urged to contact Wollongong Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
