Protest shuts down Sea Cliff Bridge

16 Oct, 2011 12:21 PM
Thousands of coal seam gas protesters have made their voice heard during a protest march across the Seacliff Bridge today.

An estimated 3000 people, young and old, many bearing anti-CSG banners, walked the 665-metre span of the bridge to protest against the controversial gas extraction process.

While media helicopters circled, two absailers unveiled a “Stop CSG” sign on the dramatic cliffspace.

Police had warned of lengthy delays either side of the bridge as they blocked off roads to make way for the marchers.

The march was scheduled to finish at 1.30pm.

It is never enough to vote on ballot day then forget about governance. The process is about getting involved and making sure all our elected representatives know what it is we want!

Theraz, I was there and I am a great grandmother and I can assure you I am not a rich do-gooder. I am concerned for future generations, and for my grand children. Maybe you don't live in the vicinity of the proposed gas extractions, but rest assured, if they come to pass, it will affect you.Well done Jess and Chris for organizing the day. .

I would like to see the CSG companies and supporters organise a 'We Want CSG rally" ....nobody would turn up because it is so on the nose.
