Sanctuary Point: Young driver killed in crash

09 Feb, 2012 12:51 PM
A young man has died after his car hit a tree in Sanctuary Point this afternoon.

Paramedics rushed to Larmer Ave about 1.45pm after reports a car had struck a tree.

They found the car’s only occupant, a 20-year-old man, trapped in the wreckage of the vehicle.

He was in cardiac arrest and not breathing when paramedics arrived.

He was revived briefly but died about 2.05pm.

A rescue helicopter was scrambled but was later called off.

Motorists are advised to avoid Larmer Ave, with The Wool Rd able to be used as an alternative route.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
