Taipans tip out Hawks by one point

The Wollongong Hawks lost a nailbiter to the Cairns Taipans 71 to 70 after leading for most of the game in Cairns tonight.

The Hawks could not find their scoring touch in the second half after leading by 11 at halftime.

Rookie Tim Coenraad lead the scoring for the Hawks with 13 after not missing a shot on the night. The next best for the Hawks was Cameron Tragardh with 12. Glen Saville had a good first half but struggled to find the basket in the second half.

Best for the Taipans were Gary Boodnikoff and Phill Jones who each scored 16.

The Hawks will play on the Gold Coast tomorrow.
