Chief Climate Commissioner Tim Flannery has urged Illawarra residents to study the evidence behind climate change before dismissing scientific warnings.Professor Flannery made the comments during an address to a packed forum at the Transforming Australia Conference in Wollongong this morning. He earlier released a report warning the Illawarra will suffer more frequent bushfires and severe floods because of climate change.‘‘Go to the experts, don’t listen to any old opinion, make sure you get the right opinion,’’ Prof Flannery said.‘‘Don’t just believe what anyone says, go and take the minute or five minute it takes to actually check this out, it’s not an onerous thing to do, anyone who has a computer can do it.’’The Climate Commission is an independent advisory body set up by the Gillard government.
