Wollongong's Cliff Rd jewel is to be replaced by a two-storey home with a basement for use by executives from Indian mining company Gujurat NRE.
Plans lodged with Wollongong City Council show chairman Arun Jagatramka will follow through with what he told the Mercury earlier this year and use the "company house" to entertain and accommodate mining executives visiting from overseas and his own family.
A feature of the box-like building will be a large entertainment area on the ground floor.
SLIDESHOW: The old Spence house is demolished That floor will also contain a dining area, powder room, kitchen and guest bedroom with ensuite.
The first floor includes bedrooms, laundry, prayer room, kitchenette and balcony overlooking the ocean.
The submission says the design of the house reflects Wollongong's "culturally rich and diverse" nature.
"This diversity in design is exhibited through the variation in materials, colours and textures, thus bringing in an element of surprise and creating interest among the onlookers."
The owner of the home previously on the site, Norma Spence, went down in Illawarra folklore for her determination to resist all offers from developers for her home.
But when she died in 2007, her adult children decided to sell the cottage as it was the only way all family members could benefit equally.
The house was demolished in April.
Mr Jagatramka spends about 10 days of each month in Australia.
"Basically (the house) will be for the directors, including myself, and also a few company functions," he said in March.
