Traffic still backed up behind truck crash on F6

23 Feb, 2012 09:38 AM
Traffic is still backed up behind a truck accident on the F6 near Helensburgh, with one lane closed and traffic stretching back for over a kilometre.

A Roads and Maritime Service spokesperson said a single northbound lane was being intermittently closed to allow heavy equipment to move in.

Wollongong police said traffic had been diverted via the Old Princes Hwy at Bulli Tops after the truck rolled onto its side, spilling diesel fuel onto the road.

The Mercury understand’s the truck involved may have been carrying coal.

An earlier incident on Mt Ousley Rd, where a number of break downs and a fluid spill caused the closure of two northbound lanes, has now been cleared with lanes reopend.

Gee, not surprising it's a coal truck involved giving their driving habits on the F6 which I frequent several times daily. After the Police have finished with the Lennon's Fleet maybe they could come down and look at the Coal Truck Fleet using the F6 and address their vehicles !....unfortunately the Highway Patrol are no deterant as they no when the roads are free of them and take advantage of it.

Yeah, those speed limiters are a joke. I sit on a 100 and watch the empty trucks overtake me. I notice also that those speed limiter signs on the trucks have all but disappeared too. Its about time the police did something about it.

quinaldo, My Name is ROD not RON. And Chris, I hope your not one of the hundreds car drivers i see every day doing 130Km/h+ up each others bum (sometimes in the fog )on the F6 on your way to work ? It would be a bit sad if you was one of those speeding car drivers and then you had the hide to bag some poor truck driver who had an accident. Chris, you have no idea what caused this accident. Maybe a speeding car driver cut him off.
