Two injured in head-on crash on Picton Rd

Two men were injured in a head-on crash on Picton Rd this morning.

Both male drivers were trapped for about half an hour after the crash, which occurred about 8am just east of Cordeaux colliery.

Fire rescue crews had to extricate both drivers simultaneously.

One patient was believed to be suffering chest injuries while the other also sustained serious injuries.

Paramedics rushed one driver to Wollongong Hospital while the other was taken to Liverpool Hospital.

Police and the fire brigade were clearing the scene after 9am however traffic was still heavy on Picton Rd.

Westbound traffic is slow but moving.

A second collision occurred near Picton Rd about one hour later, this time on Mt Ousley Rd near the Picton Rd overpass.

The two vehicle collision occurred just after 10.15am and two people were injured.

    Actually we are blessed with low number of smashes on Picton road compared to what happens there!

    they installed new signs, but that doesnt do anything when people still insist on driving too fast in the rain.

    Went past one at 7:45am, went past another at 3:45pm!!! How hard it is to slow down in the rain??? Been travelling Picton rd daily for 8 yrs, we need a concrete barrier the whole length to prevent head-ons - and everyone needs to drive with some common sense!!

    It amazes me that people refuse to slow down in wet weather, visibility is low and the ground is slippery yet people still insist on speeding because they think they are invincible.
