Police have released the names of three people who died after a car crashed and exploded at Unanderra on Friday night.

Shortly before 7.30pm on Friday a Holden sedan travelling south on the Princes Highway near Orange Grove Road struck a power pole. The vehicle hit a gas main and ignited.

While the formal identification of victims is still being completed, they are believed to be: Adam Craig Nall, 27, of Oak Flats; Roach Bannerman, 19, from Brownsville and Aaron Sinadinovic, 24, from Farmborough Heights.

Daniel Schroeder, the 21-year-old Dapto man who survived the fiery crash, is in a serious condition in Royal North Shore Hospital. Police said his injuries were not as bad as first feared.
