Wet weather cancels weekend events

03 Feb, 2012 01:07 PM
Wet weather has been blamed for the cancellation of several Wollongong City Council events this weekend.

Tonight’s Twilight Markets, which were to have been held on Flagstaff Hill, have been scrapped, along with a WAVE FM Breakfast at North Wollongong Beach, the Tug in the Park car show at Stanwell Park and the IMB Garden Cinema at the Wollongong Botanic Gardens.

All council sporting fields are also closed, but fields in the Shellharbour Council area will remain open, provided there is no more heavy rain.

The week’s near-constant rain is predicted to ease tomorrow, with warmer temperatures and some much needed sunshine expected to arrive early next week.

Didn't even know they were on. Typical Council, put an event on and don't advertise it. Except maybe a small ad in the local rag. Waste of $ yet again from our glorious beaurocrats.

re didnt know

I have seen multiple articles in the mercury and on-line plus adverts. WIN TV news had an editorial.

plus numerous other advertising material around the council foyer ... oh and don't forget the fireworks which coincided with breast cancer week

but nah ... never heard about them

@ didn't know, it has been advertised on WIN TV for weeks on quite high rotation!!

I don't watch a lot of TV though have seen this event advertised at least half a dozen times.

Council may be guilty of many things though your ignorance is not one them.

What a bunch of whingers in this town.

"Didn't know it was on...." blah blah.

Where have you been?

Wo why do you blame the council???

Fair go, mate.

I have seen it advertised everywhere - get out a bit.

But maybe they don't advertise these things in your enclaves where you lot live.

I know @didn't know - you're just stirring, aren't you? After a few bites like our old mate the Count.

Nobody can be so far out of touch and still be breathing.

Who is the Count? Does he work at Council too?

Dunno about the work bit - probably more like he "attends". But he sure knows how to fish for Dragons (supporters) - snares them without much bait. I expect he's out cleaning his fishin rods for the coming season.
