Motorists whizzing up Mt Ousley Rd are being given the middle-fingered salute by a shaggy-haired lad peeking out of a porcelain toilet.

Perched precariously on a cliff face, the loo-with-a-view popped up on the northbound section freeway about 1km before the Picton Rd turnoff.

The sculpture appears to have been made out of a bog-standard kitchen glove and mop head, and has been harassing north-bound motorists for several weeks.

And there is speculation this may be a portable loo, after one motorist reported seeing a toilet by the side of the freeway near Bulli Tops in the past month.

A bemused Wollongong City Council spokesperson assured the Mercury today it was not a new city-sponsored art exhibition.
