A date with the Wiggles proved the ideal tonic for grieving Greg McCann and his five-year-old daughter Josie at WIN Entertainment Centre yesterday.
Just days after the funeral for Coledale marathon champion Kerryn McCann, father and daughter were among a small group of families sponsored by the KidzWish Foundation who were lucky enough to meet the fab four and Captain Feathersword in person backstage.
Kerryn was a KidzWish ambassador for many years until she lost her battle with cancer on December 7.
Despite her famous mum, Josie was starstruck when the Wiggles entered the room. She took them in with her big eyes then firmly nuzzled into Dad's shoulder.
The Wiggles never seem to lose their appeal and the squeals of delight from hundreds of children at yesterday's concert showed that a bit of fun could make tough times a little easier.
They sang, danced, and, in the case of Purple Wiggle Jeff Fatt, slept on stage, with such energy that their young audience was mesmerised.
They gave two performances yesterday as part of a national tour of their new show, You Make Me Feel Like Dancing.
Children in fairy costumes and pirate suits created their own version of a mosh pit, while others eagerly bounced in their seats.
