Wollongong football referee Strebre Delovski should have been checking into the Marriott Hotel today. Instead, he is at home and thankful to be alive.Delovski was due to control a Manchester United friendly in Jakarta on Monday, but the assignment has now been cancelled. The Premier League champions were scheduled to arrive at The Ritz-Carlton tonight but pulled out. The shaken father of two admitted he was still coming to terms with being so close to disaster. "I was booked to stay at the Marriott, it's unbelievable," Delovski said."If it happened one day later I would have been at that hotel, I could have been one of the people who died."I could have been down there having breakfast and died."Police found an unexploded bomb and other explosive material in a room of the Marriott Hotel. Delovski said his wife Silvana was happy he wouldn't be going to Indonesia and that his thoughts had immediately turned to his sons Damien, 4, and Justin, 1."She is very happy I'm not going, she has been really supportive about the game and all the reports that have been coming in," he said."The moment I found out the game was off, it hit me, I started thinking about the boys."There's too many doubts, the most important thing is the safety of the players and officials."Delovski declared he would have gone to Indonesia despite Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade warnings for Australians to avoid travelling to affected areas in the wake of the blasts - if United had done the same."If Manchester United said it was okay for them to play, it would have been okay for me to go there and referee," he said."It's very disappointing, to be appointed to a game like this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and to have it taken away by something outside your control is terrible. "There's nothing I can do about it. At least I know what's happening."Delovski's appointment to the Manchester United fixture was part of a two-game appraisal to determine if he is added to the Asian Football Confederation's elite refereeing panel.Reports last night indicated the Red Devils' clash with an Indonesian XI may be moved to Kuala Lumpur.
