A grand final confrontation with Perth is exactly what the Wollongong Hawks coveted.
They might not share the same heated rivalry with the Wildcats as they did with the Sydney Kings, but the Hawks split four games with the Cats during the regular season and have adopted a "bring it on" attitude for the best-of-three championship series.
Game one will be played in Perth on Friday night, while game two is scheduled for WIN Entertainment Centre next Tuesday.

Wollongong captain Mat Campbell said his side was looking forward to taking on the minor premiers.
"People asked me who I wanted to play if we made the grand final and my answer was always Perth," Campbell said.
The Hawks hosted Perth in the first round of the regular season, winning by two. The Wildcats beat the Hawks by seven a month later in Perth before Wollongong scored an impressive 25-point triumph in round 12.
The Cats gained revenge in round 14, crushing the Hawks by 34 at Challenge Stadium.
They were the only teams to stay in the top four throughout the season, finishing one-two on the ladder.
"Perth's a great team and they're deservedly No1 throughout the year, but there's really nothing between the teams when you look at our games during the regular season," Campbell said.
"You have to beat everybody to win a championship and you want to see the first and second teams go through to the grand final. We were one and two for a large part of the year, so let's go in and see who comes out as the best team.
"There'll be some Wollongong people who'll fly over and give us some support, but we really have to find it within the group. It'll be a real test for us how resilient we can be over in Perth."
Friday's opening clash will be televised live on Fox Sports from 10pm. Tickets for game two are on sale from the usual outlets. Hawks season-ticket holders have until noon tomorrow to book their usual seat before all remaining tickets are made available to the general public.
