The Hawks have defied the odds and left critics speechless by soaring into the grand final.

Their entry into Tuesday night's second game of the best-of-three championship series is an achievement few thought possible after the club faced being scratched due to financial difficulties before being rescued by the community-based Save the Hawks campaign.

It may not be a fairytale according to Perth's coach but I can tell you it is a dream come true for those of us who have supported the Hawks, in my case for over 27 years! Whatever happens we are proud & we are in debt to the team & coaching staff for making us feel that we have been right all along. The Hawks say Thankyou Wollongong we say Thankyou Hawks!!!!

i think bevo's comments have been taken out of context by your reporter. bevo is not stupid and doesnt get involved in verbal jousts with rival teams....he leaves the others (aka those clowns up in townsville) to worry about all that crap i just think this is your "small-town" syndrome kicking in....a desperate attempt to try and galvanise a population of 100 people to get behind the team and turn the Bruce Gordon Entertainment Centre into a cauldron "Jungle-like" atmosphere. u may have been on the brink of collapse before the season, but that was to do with off-court issues...on the court u guys have put a bloody strong team together, so i understand why bevo has described all these fluffy cinderella references as "sickening". Now tell me. Will Nick Theodorokopoulos and Les Pogliacomi be sitting courtside for the clash on Tuesday?

Bevo is correct, constantly going on about this fairytail stuff is sickening. It's disrespectful to all involved in the Hawks organisation to imply that they have been lucky to make the Grand Final and are the little guys out of their depth that don't deserve to be there. With or without McKee, they have been sitting up around the top of the ladder all season. They have a massive edge in experience over the Perth lineup who are mostly kids in their first few years and on talent alone the two starting fives in this series matchup fairly evenly although Perth have the better bench. You can try as hard as you want to try and twist his words, but Beveridge isn't being critical of the Hawks, he's giving the Hawks credit and just pointing out how evenly matched these two teams. It's been so long since people starting giving the Hawks any respect the people of Wollongong don't know how to react. For the record, I think the home team wins all 3 games in a very exciting series.
