Corrimal captain Graeme Batty believes the acquisition of all-rounder Stuart Tobin has made them semi-final contenders.
But before the Cougars start dreaming of end-of-season matches, they need to win a game and get off the bottom of the Illawarra Cricket ladder.
They get their chance on day two of their round four match against Helensburgh, who are also winless, at Ziems Park.
After making a modest 238 in their first innings last week, Corrimal opener Dean Merola took two quick wickets to have Helensburgh struggling at 2-26.
Batty says gaining full points from the game is vital if they are to climb up the ladder, something the versatile Tobin will make easier.
A premiership player with University and Northern Districts, Tobin's all-round skills will give his side an added dimension.
"He has probably been one of the top all-rounders in the competition for the last five or six years and he's a Corrimal junior, so it is good to see him come back," Batty said.
"He's an opening or first change bowler plus a middle order bat and he's very experienced. He is usually a 30 wickets per season bowler plus 300 or 400 runs - so he'll definitely be the key for us."
Batty said Tobin's arrival had caused a reassessment of expectations at the club.
"We're pretty confident we can make the semis in both the one-dayers and two-dayers. At the start of the season we had a decent line-up but Stuey adds that extra cog to our batting and bowling - so now we're definitely thinking semis."
Although they are desperate to break their duck for the season, Tobin said he won't be taking Helensburgh lightly.
"It's a pretty big game - we're pretty much desperate to gain full points out of the game - but they're not a team that is just going to lie down and take it."
