Dapto have trumped arch rivals Dandaloo by signing Noel Spencer as player-coach for 2010.
Spencer was a key member of the all-conquering Dandaloo side which won the Illawarra Premier League treble this year.
A former Wollongong Wolves premiership player with 12 years of national league experience in the NSL and A-League, Spencer (pictured) hopes to bring a new level of professionalism to Dapto.
"I have learnt so much in the last few years in the A-League and I'm looking forward to the chance of passing some of that experience on," Spencer said.
"I want to get the club run as professionally as possible and give the guys a little bit of an insight into how players prepare themselves at that level.
"Dandaloo was a great club but this is just a new challenge and one I'm looking forward to."
Spencer will replace Stuart Beedie, who has signed to coach Port Kembla in 2010.
Dapto finished seventh last season, five points outside the IPL top six.
"Dapto have some young guys who are very willing and very keen and have good ability," Spencer said.
"My idea is to get a few more experienced players in that playing group and hopefully come up with a very competitive side."
Spencer will bring with him his brother Jason, who will join the club as an assistant coach along with Craig Thompson.
Dapto secretary Steve Malamas said he was thrilled to have Spencer on board.
"We've been looking for a quality coach since the end of the season and we have found the right person in Noel, to say we are happy is an understatement," Malamas said. "We have a commitment from most of the players from last season and Noel will be bringing a couple of others in."
