Rain claims soccer tournament

27 Jan, 2012 12:05 PM
The 2012 Maso Cup - an annual pre-season soccer tournament - has been postponed as a result of the rain which has engulfed the Illawarra throughout the week.

Officials have rescheduled the 12-team event to next weekend.

The tournament will now start on Friday, February 3 and finish on Sunday, February 5.

The tournament is held annually for teams of Macedonian origin and will feature four Illawarra-based sides including Premier League outfits Wollongong United and Cringila Lions.

Sides from Victoria, Canberra and Newcastle were among those set to travel long distances to reach Wollongong.

I have to agree Dazza. Imagine the uproar if a cup was for Scottish affiliation, or N.Z. affiliation, or heavens forbid, an Aussie only cup!
