There was an all-in brawl, another Sasho Petrovski special and a brave effort with 10 men for more than 80 minutes for the Wolves against Bankstown yesterday. But it was all for nought.South Coast lost 2-1 in a dramatic and pulsating clash at Crehan Park marred by a melee less than 60 seconds after star recruit Petrovski put the hosts back on equal terms in the 55th minute.Jacob Timpano and Shannon Burgin became entangled on the deck, leading to a fray involving all 22 players that held up play for five minutes.Incredibly, referee Adam Weir didn't see fit to send anyone off, but did in the ninth minute after a challenge from the Wolves' Stjephan Paric on Stefanos Liavas.Bankstown nearly made their advantage count in the 14th minute, but Frederick Graham's header was cleared off the line by Andres Gomez after keeper Brody Crane bobbled a corner. The Wolves should have been ahead less than 60 seconds later, but Cam Littler pushed his shot wide with the goal at his mercy.Petrovski unleashed a bold shot from 32m in the 25th minute, but Bankstown gloveman Zlatko Joseski had no problems with it.Bankstown's opener came out of nothing when Aman Hadid netted from a tight angle after an over-the-top ball from Daniel Zeleny in the 27th minute.Petrovski went into the book seven minutes from the break for a challenge on Bankstown namesake Chris Petrovski that summed up the hosts' frustrations in the first half.Bankstown could have doubled their lead in the opening minute of the second period, but Graham shot into the side netting.Petrovski's goal-poaching instincts came right to the fore in the 55th minute when he buried a shot in the net while Joseski was more interested in manhandling Gomez on the goal line.An ugly brawl started less than 60 seconds after the restart when Timpano and Burgin clashed on the deck - with the the melee quickly spreading to include every player on the field.Weir resisted the temptation to send anyone off, but Mark Picciolini and Burgin, Steven Krsteski and Joseski - who ran 60m to get involved - were all booked.Sensing blood in the water, Morgan injected Lawrence Drake, Samet Kaynak (both 69th minute) and John Martinoski (75th minute) for Picciolini, Nick Litter and Cameron Littler. However, the Lions scored the knockout blow when Hadid headed home Burgin's free kick four minutes from time. The Wolves had their chances during four minutes of injury time - most notably a thunderous shot from Kaynak that was only denied by Joseski's fingertips - but couldn't get off the canvas.Earlier, the Wolves and Lions fought out a 2-2 draw in youth grade.
