Kembla stayer Get Up Jude will avoid the big guns and resume from a year-long break in Saturday's Group Three Liverpool City Cup (1300m) at Warwick Farm.
Trainer Diane Poidevin-Laine had planned to start the six-year-old in the Group One Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) but will instead avoid a star-studded field.
The Chipping Norton Stakes line-up will include Danleigh, Rangirangdo, Vision And Power, Theseo and Rock Kingdom.
"He's better over the mile, but it's such a tough field in the Group One," said stable spokesman Carl Poidevin.
Get Up Jude, whose 2009 autumn campaign was aborted due to leg problems, worked between races at Kembla Grange last Saturday.
"He looks good, in fact he looks sensational," Poidevin said.
"He worked well on Saturday and we're very happy with him.
"He had a bit of work done on his fetlock and knees during his spell but he's fully recovered. and ready to go."
Poidevin-Laine has mapped out a campaign for Get Up Jude which includes the Sky High, N E Manion Cup and Chairman's Cup, with the Sydney Cup (3200m) on April 24 his main aim.
Get Up Jude will clash with last-start winner Kenny's World, which is trained at Conjola by Graeme Murray.
Kenny's World won the Group Three Southern Cross Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on February 13.
The horse has never won over more than 1250m, but connections are hopeful he can cover more ground, entering him in next month's Doncaster Handicap (1600m) at Randwick.
"I don't think the 1300 will be a problem for him this Saturday," Murray said. "But the next couple of runs will tell us whether we go toward the Doncaster or not. Time was running out for noms so we threw him in there."
Other nominations for the Liverpool City Cup include Allez Wonder and Triple Honour.
